Question:
How can I make my shed walls taller?
Answer:
Sheds are built with 8 ft sidewalls (or less) because that is the size of most siding. But that doesn’t mean you can’t make the walls taller.
This is a fairly simple process. All my shed plans have a finished wall height and a recommended stud length. The process for making your shed taller is:
- Determine the difference between the normal finished height and your desired height.
- Add this length to the recommended stud length
- You will have to add a row of 2×4 blocking to the shed frame at the joint where the siding meets. This will give you something to nail into to splice the siding
The door frame verticals are cut to fit so no calculations necessary here. Otherwise the shed construction is the same.
